Solidarity with Ukraine – 4EU+ for Ukraine / IRO Study Visits

A group of administrative staff of the international relations offices of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and V. N. Karazin National University of Kharkiv spent an intesive week in mid-November, touring around IROs of 4EU+ universities to meet their colleagues and see how they work.

During the event, participants visited 4 partner universities of the 4EU+ alliance:

  1. Charles University in Prague
  2. Heidelberg University
  3. University of Milan
  4. University of Warsaw

The main purpose of the event was to share knowledge about working in International Relations Office, presentation of the structure and the role of IRO staff of each university.

The event started on November 8th, when the group gathered in Warsaw and flew to Prague. On the next day they met the colleagues from the Charles University and they had the opportunity to gain insights into the agenda of the Inter-university Cooperation Office, Centre for strategic partnerships of the University, and an overview of our Erasmus activities. On the second day of the visit, November 10th, participants took part in International Conference: „Enhancing Collaborative Initiatives in Education and Research between European and Ukrainian Institutions„ hosted by the Charles University in Prague operating under the auspices of the Eastern Partnership University Cluster (EaPUC). Saturday was devoted to a tour of Charles University, and on Sunday the participants flew to Germany. Monday, November 13th was spent at the Heidelberg University – the group met IRO and 4EU+ teams and also had the opportunity to visit the oldest university in Germany. On Tuesday participants travelled to Milan, where they spent Wednesday – meeting with UniMi IRO and visiting the old campus, Ca’Grande. In the evening the group returned to Warsaw, where on Thursday, November 16th, they had the last meeting of the study tour – with the IRO of the university of Warsaw.

The week was quite intensive, but filled with many fruitful meetings and conversations. It was enriching to see the workflow of other offices and simultaneously reliving to find out that we are all facing similar problems with student mobilities. The encounters with colleagues from Czech Republic, Italy and Germany may grow into real partnerships between European educational institutions.

Within the 4EU+ for Ukraine NAWA project participants were provided with transport (bus/airline tickets) and accommodation with meals in Warsaw, Prague, Heidelberg and Milan.
