Number of scholarships and length of stay: 4 one-semester scholarships

Who can apply: undergraduate and unified master’s students (completed first year of studies required), graduate students

Period of stay: summer semester 2024/25

Eligible units/fields of study: all

Financial conditions:

  • Students are exempt from tuition fees at the host university.
  • Visa, travel, insurance, study materials, subsistence and accommodation costs are paid by the student.

Choice of one of two study programmes (depending on level of Japanese language proficiency):

  1. Intensive Japanese Language Program (for those who have finished basic level Japanese and have attained or are close to attaining JLPT N3);
  2. Academic Program (for those who have JLPT N2 or equivalent and are comfortable taking courses in Japanese with Japanese native speakers).

Required documents:

  1. Consent Form, signed by Head of the Educational Unit (EUH) or Mobility Coordinator;
  2. Certificate of grade average from the entire period of study, issued by the Student’s Office at the unit (minimum 3,49);
  3. Motivation letter justifying the choice of the receiving institution and indicating the chosen unit at the host university;
  4. Curriculum Vitae including information on academic achievements, distinctions, awards etc.
  5. Certificate/proof of the English/Japanese language skills respectively:
  • Intensive Japanese Language Program (Intermediate Level) – certyfikat N3 level on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) or above;
  • Academic Program (Advanced Level) – certyfikat N2 level on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) or above.

  1. Personal Information and Consent Form;
  2. Self-introduction Sheet (Handwritten);
  3. Transcript of Home Institution in English with official seal;
  4. Certificate of Enrollment (Student Registration) in English with official seal;
  5. Letter of Recommendation from Home Institution in English or Japanese (free format);
  6. Application for Certificate of Eligibility (COE);
  7. ID photo;
  8. Passport copy;
  9. JLPT score copy *only for those who have them.

Remarks:

  • The receiving institution shall reserve the right to review the exchange enrolment request and make the final decision according the receiving institution’s internal regulations and the legal regulations imposed by the national and/or local authorities.
  • Students take care of the visa on their own in accordance with the procedures of the host country.
  • Students accepted by the receiving institution shall obtain approval for the study programme from the Mobility Coordinator at their home unit at UW. Learning Agreement shall be signed by the student and both institutions within 3 weeks from the beginning of the exchange.
  • Candidates may, at any time, be asked to show original documents providing achievements and received awards.
  • The documents required by the foreign university should be submitted by 05.10.2024 r. through the SWU application system in the indicated files formats.
  • Additional information will be sent to nominated students.
  • Before departure, students accepted by the receiving institution are obliged to conclude an agreement with the University of Warsaw (at the International Relations Office).

Application deadline28 August 2024, until 23:59 Warsaw time zone. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Application (one e-mail containing all required documents shall be sent to the email address bwz.nabory.wymiana@uw.edu.pl from the candidate’s university email address (§3 Order of the Rector of UW no. 279 from 10th December 2020). Applications sent from other email addresses will not be considered.
