Solidarity with Ukraine – 4EU+ for Ukraine II / „Equality Policies in HEIs” workshop during the Final Project Meeting
In mid-December, the representatives of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, V. N. Karazin National University of Kharkiv and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv participated in the final project meeting, summarisig two years of the project „Solidarity with Ukraine – 4EU+ for Ukraine”, funded by the National Agency for Academic Exchange of the Republic of Poland.
During the second day, the participants took part in a workshop „Equality Policies in HEIs – How to Develop and Implement Efficient Solutions Supporting Equality and Diversity at the University„, given by Anna Grędzińska, UW’s Equal Opportunities Chief Specialist.
The training focused on the importance of equality and diversity policy in HEIs. First, some general information on the situation of women in science (statistics, roles and positions taken by women) was presented. Participants were encouraged to share their experiences and observations on the obstacles in respecting equality at their universities as well as on the countermeasures implemented by their home institutions to fight inequality. Special attention was given to the matter of developing and implementing efficient tools and measures which support equal opportunities. In that respect the Gender Equality Plan for the University of Warsaw and other equality measures was discussed in detail.
