MIASTECZKO NA STYKU KULTUR – CULTURAL HOTSPOT UW: call for students
14 kwietnia 2025
THE BIGGEST MULTICULTURAL EVENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW IS BACK!
The organizers of MIASTECZKO NA STYKU KULTUR – CULTURAL HOTSPOT UW invite Erasmus+ students studying at the University of Warsaw to co-create the 5th edition of the biggest multicultural event at our University!
Culture Zone of the Cultural HotSpot UW 2025 will take place on 23th MAY (Friday) on UW’s main campus (26/28 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street).
If you want to present your country, teach us about its language and customs, the stage is yours! The way you want to show your culture is up to you, all creative ideas are most welcome!
Your participation will provide valuable insights into the richness of European culture and help to create an enriching experience for everyone involved. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to connect with students from all over the world and create even more unforgettable memories during your Erasmus exchange.
What do we expect from you?
- ideas and eagerness: to have an idea about what you would like to present. It can be your culture in general or just parts of it. Don’t worry, the coordinators of the event will provide space for cultural stands and can help you with some of the supplies,
- attendance and communication: to take part in a meeting on a weekday between April 23rd and 30th, specific to each culture, to discuss your stand project and organisational matters. The exact date will depend on your team’s availability these days so we’ll arrange it specifically later on,
- engagement and presence: To be available on 23rd May (from late morning till afternoon – the exact hours to be announced soon).
We’re also inviting you to the multicultural workshop on 16th May (Friday) at 5pm. The attendance is not obligatory but it’s a perfect opportunity to meet other volunteers creating the Cultural HotSpot UW community before the event!
Please note that the Cultural HotSpot UW is primarily an university event during which we create a community of engaged students, PhD candidates and employees, thus both — an individual preparatory meeting with the Coordinators is MANDATORY if you want to participate in the event.
If you are interested, firstly START BY FILLING IN THIS VOLUNTEER FORM (check the box “Organising Miasteczko na Styku Kultur – Cultural HotSpot UW”).
If you have already filled in the form and participated in previous initiatives at the Volunteer Centre, please send an email to chs[at]wolontariat.uw.edu.pl letting us know that you want to take part in this event and which culture you’d like to present.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: 22 April (Thursday) at noon! Only individual applications are accepted: one email = one person. If you are a group, each person should send a separate application.
Important: Applicants must be of legal age on the date of the event (i.e., 18 years old by May 23, 2025).
Please note:
- Each cultural stand can have a maximum of 5 participants, so do not wait with your application until the last moment!
- The Cultural HotSpot UW event will involve many participants, with lively discussions and activities. All the students presenting their cultures will be interacting with many people in a busy and intense environment. While organizers will provide a quieter room for rest, please consider this when deciding whether to join the event.
All students who will join the event and present their home culture will receive a UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW VOLUNTEER CERTIFICATE and a GIFT PACK.
Event organizers: The Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw, the Students’ Union of the University of Warsaw, Welcome Point and the Faculty of Oriental Studies
If you’re still hesitating, SEE what the Cultural HotSpot UW looked like last year!
We hope to create a Miasteczko na Styku Kultur – Cultural HotSpot UW 2025 with you this year!
