  1. As of Saturday, November 7th, 2020  new  restrictions are put in place:

New restrictions will be in place until at least November 29th, 2020. If the number of infections increases to 70 per 100,000 persons stricter restrictions (ex. travel restictions, nation wide quatantine) will be introduced. Previous restrictions such as no gatherings of more than 5 persons are still in place.

2. The Psychological Counselling Centre of The University of Warsaw offers short-term counselling sessions to all students and staff of the University of Warsaw. Details of the Centre’s offer are available at http://cpp.uw.edu.pl/info-in-english/

Dear Students, 
I am a librarian of the University of Warsaw Library and probably some of you already met me online during the library training. In the library we are working on a project: BUWconnect – improving the channel of communication between the library and information system of UW and a foreign user. One of the tasks is to learn your opinions, your needs and comments on an academic library’s work. I am looking for volunteers among you who are willing to spare some little amount of time to meet me online and to fill in a questionnaire. It would be perfect if I could meet some of you by the end of October and once again in December or January before you leave. But a one-time response will also be useful for me. To thank you for your time and to appreciate your help I will be happy to offer you some small gifts. I will not be asking any personal data, everything is anonymous.   1. As of Saturday October 17th Warsaw will be in the red zone. New restrictions are put in place:

3. If you wish to visit the International Relations Office, please make an appointment at http://terminarz.bwz.uw.edu.pl/ Please make sure that you come at the exact time of your appointment. When making an appointment, please select room 22.

4. If you have not applied for your Electronic Student Card yet, we recommend that you do it as soon as possible.

October Orientation Week

Welcoming of Erasmus+ and other exchange programmes’ students in the 1st semester of the academic year 2020/21 was held in a slightly different format than usual. Considering the restrictions resulting from the current epidemiological situation, most of the meetings took place online through tools such as Google Meet and Zoom.

 The 2-week Intensive Online Polish Course, organised by the Centre of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners “Polonicum” of the UW Faculty of Polish Studies, started on 14th September.

 The following events took place between 1st and 15th October:

  • IRO Information Meeting
  • „Students welcome Students” Meeting organised together with ESN UW and UW Students’ Union
  • Course registration training
  • Introduction to Polish at Polonicum, concerning the offer of Polish language and culture courses for foreigners
  • Library Instruction workshops with the University Library Instructor
  • Meeting with PhD candidates of the UW Faculty of Law and Administration, concerning the issues related to renting a flat
  • Information Meetings with Mobility Coordinators at several UW Faculties
  • Cultural Orientation Workshop and Polish Culture and Intercultural Communication Workshop organised by UW Welcome Point 

Bearing in mind the need to establish real relationships between students, walking tours with guides in small groups were also organised:

  • Campus Tours around the UW Main Campus
  • Warsaw Tours on the Royal Route and in the Old Town

In order to guarantee safety, it was necessary to register for a specific group, and the tours were carried out taking into consideration all health and safety measures imposed by Polish authorities.

Orientation Week schedule:

COVID-19 – information and recommendation 

 

Due to the rapidly growing number of COVID-19 infections as of Saturday (10.10.2020) the whole of Poland is a yellow zone (on a three level scale: green, yellow, red) and new restrictions are introduced.

 

  • Covering one’s mouth and nose in all public places is mandatory (Only individuals with a note from the doctor stating that they cannot wear a mask are exempt. The note must be in Polish and must be carried at all times.)
  • When shopping it is mandatory to either disinfect one’s hands when entering the shop or to use disposable gloves.
  • Limited number of people at restaurants/bars. 1 person per every 4m2. Wearning a mask is compulsory whenever not seated at a table (ex. walking in or going to the toilet).
  • All clubs and discos are to remain closed.
  • No event with more than 100 participants possible. Every participant is required to wear a mask at all times.
  • Limited number of people at gyms/ aquaparks / swimming pools.
