Period of stay and length of stay: one academic year beginning in September 2025

Who can apply: undergraduate and unified master’s students (completed first year of studies required), graduate students

Eligible units/fields of study: all*

Financial conditions:

  • Students are exempt from tuition fees at the host university.
  • Visa, travel, insurance, study materials, subsistence and accommodation costs are paid by the student.
  • All participants must enroll in the Japanese National Health Insurance Plan during their stay in Japan (premium is approximately 20,000 yen per year).

 Requirements:

  1. Applicants must be registered as a full-time undergaduate student of UW during the time of application and throughout the entire period of the scholarship.
  2. High GPA;
  3. Applicants must demonstrate both high levels of motivation and academic achievement.
  4. Applicants must be recommended by the UW.
  5. Applicants must be willing to study the Japanese language during the scholarship.
  6. Applicants must be ready to start the scholarship in September 2025.

Required documents:

  1. Consent Form, signed by Head of the Educational Unit (EUH) or Mobility Coordinator;
  2. Certificate of grade average from the entire period of study, issued by the Student’s Office at the unit (min. 3,49);
  3. Motivation letter justifying the choice of the receiving institution;
  4. Curriculum Vitae including information on academic achievements, distinctions, awards etc.
  5. Certificate/proof of the language skills:
    • certificate N2 or a certificate issued by a Japanese language teacher confirming the required level of language proficiency;
    • additionally for candidates wishing to take classes in English: at least B2 **.

Documents required by the foreign University:

  1. Completed application form (2025 Student Exchange Application);
  2. Recommendation letters from two instructors of the student’s home university;
  3. Application essay;
  4. Transcript of academic records from the student’s home university.

Remarks:

  • * Students will be assigned to one of the following faculties: Josai University (Sakado Campus, Saitama Prefecture): Faculty of Contemporary Policy Studies, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Management); Josai International University (Togane Campus, Chiba Prefecture): Faculty of International Humanities, Faculty of Tourism); the applicant may be assigned to either of the universities and any of the faculties listed above.
  • ** Due to the limited number of classes taught in English at both universities, we recommend that applicants have Japanese language proficiency sufficient to participate in classes taught in Japanese.
  • The receiving institution shall reserve the right to review the exchange enrolment request and make the final decision according the receiving institution’s internal regulations and the legal regulations imposed by the national and/or local authorities.
  • Students accepted by the receiving institution shall obtain approval for the study programme from the Mobility Coordinator at their home unit at UW. Learning Agreement shall be signed by the student and both institutions within 3 weeks from the beginning of the exchange.
  • Candidates may, at any time, be asked to show original documents providing achievements and received awards.
  • Students take care of the visa on their own in accordance with the procedures of the host country.
  • Before departure, students accepted by the receiving institution are obliged to conclude an agreement with the University of Warsaw (at the International Relations Office).
  • The documents required by the foreign university should be submitted by 28.04.2025 by the nominated student to the IRO UW.
  • Additional information will be sent to nominated students.

Application deadline14th April 2025, until 10:00 Warsaw time zone. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Application (one e-mail containing all required documents shall be sent to the email address bwz.nabory.wymiana@uw.edu.pl from the candidate’s university email address (§3 Order of the Rector of UW no. 279 from 10th December 2020). Applications sent from other email addresses will not be considered.
