Solidarity with Ukraine – 4EU+ for Ukraine / Student Conference
At the beginning of December, representatives of student unions of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, V. N. Karazin National University of Kharkiv and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv came to Warsaw to participate in a student conference, organised within the project „Solidarity with Ukraine – 4EU+ for Ukraine”, funded by the National Agency for Academic Exchange of the Republic of Poland. The Ukrainian students were joined by the representatives of the student unions of 4EU+ members – Sorbonne University, Heidelberg University, University of Copenhagen and University of Milan. The Student Union of the University of Warsaw hosted the event.
The programme of the conference was prepared by students themselves – back in November they met online for a few times to discuss what would be interesting for them.
On the first day, December 4th, the participants gathered in the Faculty of History builiding. In the agenda, they planned (among other things):
- Student Government Structures and Works – 10 min presentation by each University + 5 min Q&A of each University
- Tour of the UW Campus
- 4EU+ Presentation
- Speed Friending| Coffee Break
- Linguistical Tandem
- Panel discussion about Student Volunteering during Crisis
The following day, December 5th, started with a workshop on student well-being, conducted by Dr Jana Koci from Charles University, Prague. Student received handouts and workbooks so that they could implement in their own lives the ideas discussed during the workshop. Next on the agenda was a panel discussion “Exchange of Good Practices in the work of Students’ Unions”, followed by cultural event and trip to the National Museum in Warsaw.
During two intensive days students had a chance to get to know each other better, discuss issues important in the context of student governance, and they also found time for entertainment and cultural activities. In conclusion they eagerly decided to repeat the event in the future, hoping for even greater attendance and a more extensive programme.
